What is Deep Work?
Hack your brain, like in the Matrix...

So you decided to stop scrolling TikTok.
Now you’re reading emails, like a nerd.
So what drew you in? What attracted you?
Deep work.
You may have heard of it before,
…or maybe you haven’t.
I’ll define it for you:

~Coined by Cal Newport ~
…A state of PEAK concentration. How AMAZING would that be?
At your desk,
completing tasks,
being productive,
getting things DONE.
You have this potential…
Yet,
TikTok and Instagram hold you captive.
Prisoners in a digital jail.

This may be you right now. But we can fix that.
I suggest you read Cal Newport’s book on the topic, Deep Work. I have read many summaries on deep work, and they all mention the book.
So how do I enter a state of deep work?
How to Enter Deep Work:
Remove all distractions from your surroundings (phone, food, TV, etc.)
Identify the task at hand, only ONE TASK.
Define the objective of the segment.
Allocate a time between 30 mins and 90 mins for your work. If you finish within this time, it’s okay.
The brain operates best up to 90 minutes at a time of intense work.
4 hours of deep work is MILES more productive than 12 hours of on/off “work”, corrupted by distractions.
Deep work allows you to MAXIMISE your brain’s resources.
I use deep work every single morning, to start my day off right.
I recommend 2-3 deep work sessions a day, but start off with just one.
Be prepared to skyrocket your success.
{I made a video on this exact topic, breaking it down in more detail, you can check it out here}
I’ll leave you with this quote:
Two Core Abilities for Thriving in the New Economy 1. The ability to quickly
master hard things. 2. The ability to produce at an elite level, in terms of both
quality and speed.
Peace,
Jedidiah.
